"No One Likes a Fat Bride!" - Read Sarah's inspirational
story
“NO
ONE LIKES A FAT BRIDE…!”
At
least, that’s what I screamed to Greg Pappas as I was profusely sweating
from my first kettlebell session with him after three years off….
If
there is one thing I know, it’s that you have to work hard at getting
fit and healthy. There is no
magic, no pills and certainly no shortcut.
And going to Greg at Fit For Life at Gold’s Gym in South Boston
is my solution. I had worked
out with Greg three years prior and loved the results, but, was asking
for a miracle this time around…
I
got engaged on Christmas Eve, 2010.
I was shocked, excited and thrilled that it had finally happened
for me – here I was going to marry the man of my dreams.
But, sheer panic and stress came over me as I looked in the
mirror at myself, weighing in 146 lbs (the second heaviest I had ever
been at 5’5”). I knew
my fiancé and I would have a short engagement and I needed to get to
work fast if I wanted to look and feel good in a wedding dress…
My
training with Greg literally started January 4th, weighing in
at exactly 146 lbs, and coming in at almost “obese” in terms of BMI.
I swore to him and myself that I was going to make my health a
priority so that by early June, the time of my wedding, I was healthy
and confident. Needless to
say, he was great during those 5 months.
He was patient, but, pushed me when necessary.
We worked out twice a week for an hour each session, leveraging
kettlebells the majority of the time.
Plus, he gave me pointers on what to do outside of our sessions
and helped me with my diet.
By the end of May, after many dress fittings and alterations of my dress
(I started with a size 10, which had to be brought down to a size 2), I
had lost approximately 21 lbs. I looked and felt great!
As
I said before, there is no magic, no pills or no shortcuts to get the
results you want. It takes
hard work, dedication, a healthy diet and a trainer like Greg Pappas at
Fit For Life to get it done.
